Volunteers are the Cornerstone
The mission of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy mind, spirit, and body for all. This mission is put into action every day by the many volunteers who spend time making the YMCA the place it is. The overwhelming support of people willing to invest their time and talent is a cornerstone of our YMCA’s success. Volunteers spend countless hours coaching youth sports, greeting members, or nurturing children in our KidZone. College students lead fun activities for school aged children. Community members participate on committees that allow them to share their expertise. Board members work tirelessly to raise funds and set policies that improve our YMCA and community. Thankfully, the dedication and leadership of our board and staff members have resulted in financial stability even in these difficult times.

At the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, we want our community to know that we are much more than a place to work out. Volunteers give us the opportunity to help more children build character as well as help more families develop healthy lifestyle habits and find the work/life balance that we all crave.
