General Facility

Comment: Extend weekend hours to 5am and 9pm every day please!
Staff Response: The YMCA provides hours based on the community and also our other branches in the association. Currently, the David D Hunting YMCA provides additional hours on the weekend beyond the hours we choose to operate. We do pay attention to our members need so I appreciate this comment.

Comment: It would be better if all the clocks showed the same time. It’s difficult to be on time to classes or pickups with clock discrepancies.
Staff Response: Agreed, we will fix that!

Membership

Comment: With the Grand Parent pass, I would like to have my 7 year old grand kids be able to get a swim pass so they don’t have to do the swim test every time.
Staff Response: Thanks for your feedback. The grandparent pass is a great perk for grandparents. But the pass is not the same as membership and therefore not all privileges of membership are included in the pass. It sounds like your grand kids are coming to the Y often with you. Perhaps you might consider upgrading your grandkids to youth memberships? This would allow them the ability to have a pass so they no longer need to take the swim test every time. It would also allow them the privilege of reduced rates on programs.

Comment: Birthday party people are out of control. Pushing my 8 year old out of the way on the basketball court and running the wrong way on the track. Overall they are very rude.
Staff Response: Thanks for this feedback. To be entirely honest we recognized this too in the month of January and have taken some steps to prevent this moving forward. Kate Haywood who works our front desk on the weekends will now be point person for all rentals and will check in with them regularly. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to connect with the Manager on Duty or Kate and we will address the concern right away.

Comment: The YMCA toots itself as a Christian facility; how about a little Christian pop music on the speakers? These love songs are killing me in the Men’s Locker room. Artists like Casting Crowns, Brandon Heath, News Boys, Laura Story, etc.
Staff Response: We actually have our music on a rotation to ensure there is a diverse family friendly option throughout the day. We have added Christian Music to the schedule thanks to your suggestion.

Comment: Your membership desk staff is very friendly and has great customer service!
Staff Response: YEAH!!!! Thanks so much for the positive feedback.

Aquatics

Comment: Please keep the little kids out of the hot tub. Two weekends in a row it was full of under 8 year olds. One was in a swim diaper!
Staff Response: Thank you for your feedback. We do not recommend use of the hot tub by children under eight, and we do our best to educate all of our members of this.

Comment: Would love to do water Zumba but charging additional is “Way Too Much”. A few people I have talked to would love to do so too but feel cost is a factor.
Staff Response: We do offer several other free for members exercise programs, as well as free land based Zumba in the Group Exercise studio that you are always welcome to participate in!! Our Aqua Zumba is a longer, in-depth specialty program. That is the reason it is a fee-based class.

Health and Wellness

Comment: The Cybex stair climber towers are loose.
Staff Response: I have gone through and tightened all of the towers with a socket set. They should all be very sturdy now :)

Comment: So there is a partnership with the healthcare organizations in the area. Can there be a flyer that says “No Exercising In Scrubs”? Eww! Hospitals/healthcare places are places to get deadly germs!
Staff Response: Our policy states that “Shirts must be worn at all times. Absolutely No sports bras and no midriff tops.” Those that choose to wear scrubs will be allowed to wear them because they are adhering to our policy.

Comment: Why do we only have one set of dumbbell weights?
Staff Response: We have several dumbbells that are spread throughout the free weight area, soft fitness area, group exercise studio and spin studio. Please let the Wellness Staff know if you cannot locate the equipment you need.

Comment: A ballet bar is needed to stretch out and the Group Exercise room is not open and no one is available to open it.
Staff Response: Unfortunately we cannot allow members to use the studios if they are not monitored. If you would like some useful tips on stretching please ask the nearest wellness coach. They will be happy to show you different stretches that can stretch the same muscles you target while using a ballet bar :)

Comment: More circuit weights. Please double in inventory!

Group Exercise

Comment: We need more benches/weights in class. There are too many participants and not enough space and equipment. Yes – I am one of those that just joined and caused the overcrowding!
Staff Response: Thank you for your feedback. We will continue to evaluate the usage of our classes.

Comment: It would be so much nicer to have one hour classes. By the time you get in a warm-up and a warm-down you have 30 minutes of a good workout. It’s just way too little time.
Staff Response: Thank you for your feedback. Group exercise classes are designed in a manor to “Supplement you in your workout routines”.

Comment: I’m surprised that the room the aerobic classes are in is so small. The community room downstairs seems larger. I’ve been a member of gyms across the country (5+). I’ve never seen such a small room for aerobic classes. It makes it crowded and occasionally I’m turned away. It would be nice if you could remedy this.
Staff Response: Unfortunately the community room is no larger than the Group Exercise studio and is used for a lot of events (birthday parties, luncheons, meetings, date nights, family nights, board meetings, community events) throughout the week. This makes it extremely difficult to move Group Exercise classes down stairs.

Comment: Maybe sign up for cardio sculpt or have people sign in at the wellness desk. The previous class gets trampled and everyone rushes to get a space and equipment. It’s crazy!
Staff Response: Our member’s safety is of the utmost importance. We will continue to monitor this situation.

Comment: Classes are overcrowded. Any way we could meet in the gym?
Staff Response: Thank you for your feedback. The gym is reserved for “gym activities”. Basketball, volleyball, YBL, Open gym, programming, etc.

Comment: Bike V in cycle room, left pedal needs repair.
Staff Response: We have now corrected this issue. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Comment: The maintenance on the cycling bikes was greatly appreciated. They work much better now!
Staff Response: Thank you! We have begun preventative maintenance done on a monthly basis to prevent wear and tear of our spin bikes. We realize that this is a huge part of our member’s daily experience and we will do our best to make sure all equipment gets taken care of so that it does not break down.

Comment: Please reschedule your Group Exercise classes to eliminate overlap and chaos.
Staff Response: Thank you for your comment. We are consistently evaluating the effectiveness of our Group Exercise schedules.

Comment: Could you have a Cardio Sculpt class in the early morning. I LOVE this class it’s awesome!
Staff Response: We will continue to evaluate when and what classes to offer to provide our members with a variety of options.

Comment: Could you add some more Total Body Sculpt classes.
Staff Response: Thank you for your comment.

Comment: Could you put some time between the Monday morning classes? Maybe have the A-O-A start at 8:00am.
Staff Response: We will continue to evaluate the effectiveness of our Group Exercise schedule.

Comment: Could you add a Friday Cardio Sculpt class in the evening? Please Please.
Staff Response: Thank you for your comment. We just added a Sunday Zumba class! Check it out!

Comment: Please add a core class on Monday or Wednesday.
Staff Response: There is a core class on Monday and Wednesday from 11:45-12noon taught by Raeanne. Hopefully this is what you are looking for!

Comment: When will there be a free Group Ex. Class offered between 6 and 8 AM? This is the main time I can attend the facility, and I am a little irked that I would have to pay again for a facility I already pay for.
Staff Response: We are continually evaluating when our members prefer classes. At this time we will not be adding classes to this time frame.

Comment: Everyone in our M/W AM class love it! We need a workout scheduled for Friday!
Staff Response: Thank you for your feedback!

Comment: Could you have a Core class in the evening on Monday and Wednesday after Total Body Sculpt and Cardio Sculpt.
Staff Response: At this time we will not be able to accommodate to your request as we already have classes scheduled after those time frames.

Comment: Could you make some of the classes longer?
Staff Response: As an association, all classes are 45 minutes.

Comment: What do you think about a youth spin class (12+ yrs)?
Staff Response: Thank you for your recommendation. We will continue to see if this is an area of interest to our members.

Comment: Need aerobics Friday AM early 5:15am – not Pilates like you used to have. Need something for employed people! Cardio Sculpt!
Staff Response: We have several early morning and evening classes Monday through Thursday and also have weekend classes that have great turn outs. We will continue to monitor interest on Fridays early morning.

KidZone

Comment: Please add hooks in the kid zone area for coats.
Staff Response: Thank you for your comment. We are looking into a solution for coats and boots during the winter months in Kid Zone.

Comment: Kid zone needs more staff. It is becoming a safety issue. We joined because of the child care and I’m not sure it’s safe. Current staff is excellent though!
Staff Response: Thank you for your comment on our current staff, we too feel they are all wonderful. As for more staff we currently have each section fully staffed based off of the patterns we have seen so far. Keeping in mind January and February brought a lot of new members to the Y we are finding that all of our families are getting into a routine and this is helping us to better staff Kid Zone. You will also notice a growing amount of volunteers who we have taken on to help us as well. Thank you.

Cafe

Comment: Coffee available in locker area would be great at least until the coffee shop opens at 10am
Staff Response: Thanks for the feedback. We have chosen not to pursue this option, but we do appreciate the suggestion.

Comment: Need the café open at least for water after 8:15am classes. 10 am is late. You are missing the work crowd.
Staff Response: Thanks for this feedback. The café continues to explore options for hours and will adjust them as needed.

Comment: Please make sure the café is open until the time stated. This is the second occurrence for us as members to come and it is not open anymore.
Staff Response: This is a very important suggestion and I will be sure to address it with the café team. Please continue to let me know if you feel this continues – a date and time would be very helpful.

Maintenance

Comment: Please put towels near the showers in the ladies locker room. Right now the only towels are way on the other side of the locker room. It is not very convenient. Thanks!
Staff Response: Towels are placed outside of the women’s locker room before entering the pool deck as well as at the main entrance. Please let the staff know if you are unable to locate them. We do appreciate your comment.

Comment: The sauna isn’t hot enough! I don’t even break a sweat.
Staff Response: Thanks for the comment. We have added a door threshold to help with the heat loss.

Comment: Why don’t you guys have a steam room! Can you install one?
Staff Response: Thank you for your comment. At this time we will not be adding a steam room.

Comment: Please add hooks in the bathroom stalls in the Women’s locker room. It would be helpful.
Staff Response: We have now added hooks to the women’s locker room bathroom stalls. Check ‘em out! :)

Comment: Great shelves in the showers!
Staff Response: Thank you!

Comment: Tissues in the Women’s Locker room would be appreciated.
Staff Response: Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have added tissue at the sink in the Women’s locker room.

Comment: A couple of close up mirrors in the ladies locker room would be helpful for the more senior women with applying their makeup.
Staff Response: At this time we will not be adding mirrors.

Comment: Where did you get your hand sanitizer bottles?
Staff Response: Hand sanitizer bottles were provided by Nichols.
