Outdoor Education
YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin's Outdoor Education Program provides the opportunity for students to learn in a natural, beautiful setting. While at Manitou-Lin, students work to gain a better appreciation of the wonders of the environment that surrounds them. Students also learn about relating to one another and being a member of a community through activities that promote teamwork and communication. Our goals are:
- Our educational curriculum is designed to be a hands-on way to learn solid educational topics. All activities are to be viewed as a path to help your group meet their educational objectives. We believe a students hands-on experience is the best teacher.
- We recognize students are faced with a lot of hard challenges today. We hope to help students deal with issues such as respect, trust, and responsibility. Camp Manitou-Lin has partnered with the Search Institute to work on helping students acquire many of the developmental assets needed to grow up healthy, caring, and responsible.
- Students have fun at camp while participating in team building exercises, singing, horseback riding, climbing, canoeing and challenging themselves on the high ropes course. We believe, that while students are at camp having fun, values and learning can be "caught" in ways that differ from a traditional classroom.
