MAKING A DIFFERENCE THROUGH YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
For those who want a stronger sense of self-worth through service to the community, the Grand Rapids Y Service Club offers just such an opportunity.
Good things don’t automatically happen — they require commitment and constancy to purpose on the part of those who want to make a difference for the better in our community.
For more than 80 years the Grand Rapids Y Service Club has been dedicated to community service and youth development. We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Through the Service Club, we’re cultivating the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, and educational achievement.
There’s more to life than pursuing a paycheck.
Building strong relationships with fellow Club members is a major benefit of the group. Getting to know each other comes from working enthusiastically on Club fundraising projects and enjoying social functions together.
Developing leadership skills and creating new ways of doing things happen naturally. Collectively, our progress is measured by the good work we do to sustain the YMCA and its Christian mission.
Our Focus
Our focus is on YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin striving to give the youth of Greater Grand Rapids a safe, healthy, and caring summer camp experience.
Our fund raising projects provide for ongoing capital improvements at the camp and to maintain the grounds of this beautiful lakefront facility near Middleville. The money we raise funds scholarships that enable less privileged kids in our community to enjoy the Camp Manitou-Lin experience.
Our Club Events include the
- White Elephant Sale
- Run Thru the Rapids
- Santa Claus Girls
Club meetings are at noon every other Friday, September through June at the downtown David D. Hunting Y.
Please come be our guest.
