Cooking Matters®

Cooking Matters® is key to Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry Campaign , which connects kids in need with nutritious food and teaches families how to cook healthy, affordable meals.

The No Kids Hungry Campaign works to end childhood hunger in America by ensuring all children get the healthy food they need, every day.

Our Cooking Matters® nutrition education program helps fight hunger by teaching families to make healthy food choices on a budget. Based on the USDA MyPlate, the Cooking Matters® curriculum teaches healthy eating habits, cooking skills, simple recipes, and food safety.

Free Hands-On Cooking Courses
With the right skills, eating healthy can be affordable and delicious. Our six-week courses are team taught by nutrition experts and cover meal preparation, grocery shopping and nutrition. A bag of groceries containing the ingredients of the day’s lesson allows participants to practice newly developed skills at home.

Free Hands-On Cooking Courses
Cooking Matters includes a store tour that provide adults with hands-on education in shopping shop for food that is both low in cost and high in nutrition. Participants learn to plan, budget, and prepare delicious meals the whole family will enjoy.
