IMPACTING LIVES AFTER SCHOOL

TeenZone

David D. Hunting YMCA’s TeenZone is a free program that offers a safe and positive environment for our teen guests, ages 11-17 to visit after school.

The TeenZone is a staff-supervised free drop-in program where kids can get involved in a number of activities that embrace the Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility, and inclusion.

No registration needed and a YMCA membership is not required – all teens are welcome!

The TeenZone’s daily activities include: homework help, tabletop games, special events, and community service projects. Teens have the freedom to choose what their experience will be from day-to-day. We offer a number of structured activities or teens can elect for social time with friends.

SPACES DESIGNED FOR TEENS

Hangin’ Out

This space is a relaxed, social area where teens can read, catch up on homework, socialize, and even have food or drinks. This sparce is designed for engagement and is a pressure-free starting point for the day’s planned, supervised activities. Activities can include an introduction to the Zone’s technology and resources and participation in the day’s workshops, group projects, or impact and media series.

Loungin’

Loungin’ space is designed with the latest technology in mind! Not ready to commit to a class series but are interested in electronic technology? Then this space is for you. Besides offering technologies such as laptops with internet access, Flip Video cameras, still cameras, drawing pads, and more, the Loungin’ area also has staff with expertise using many of these resources effectively. The goal of this space is to extend supervised learning beyond the classroom where teens can explore, create, and share content.
