Adaptive Sports

Intentional considerations to form and function will allow this campus and its programs the highest degree of accessibility possible. The Mary Free Bed YMCA is a one-of-a-kind facility in the country uniting able-bodied individuals and persons with disabilities under the pursuit of fully accessible sports, fitness, and general well-being.

We are excited to bring many opportunities for individuals of all abilities to participate in adaptive sports.

Wheelchair on track

Mary Free Bed programs at the Y provide many opportunities for people with disabilities to lead active and exciting lives. Practice for team sports such as wheelchair basketball, wheelchair rugby, and wheelchair softball will take place at this universally designed facility.

In addition to having access to specially-designed weightlifting and exercise equipment, people with disabilities also are welcome to participate in adaptive wall climbing, scuba diving, and yoga.

We’re thrilled to be an integral part of the Mary Free Bed YMCA, the first universally designed Y in the nation.
