Kara Mockler

Kara earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics from Michigan State University and completed her dietetic internship throughout West Michigan. As a
Registered Dietitian, Kara uses evidenced-based practice to help members reach their health and wellness goals including lowering cholesterol, managing diabetes, controlling weight, decreasing blood pressure, and planning nutritious meals. Kara’s goal is to help members improve their relationship with food and enjoy a healthy, balanced lifestyle. She has been a member at The Y nearly all her life and is excited to support members along their wellness journeys.

Tony Burdick

Tony has a degree in Exercise Science and is an ISSA Certified Personal Trainer. He is also a Precision Nutrition level 1 certified coach. As a personal trainer, Tony works with a wide variety of clientele and refines his programs to produce the greatest results for each client. Tony focuses on small, consistent changes over time through attainable goals and hard work. He enjoys taking his clients on this journey and strives to balance hard work and having fun!

Chase DeLong

Chase is a NASM certified personal trainer. He is passionate about helping people achieve their goals and improve their life through fitness. Chase believes that a big part of Personal Training is education for people to make life long changes. He enjoys working with all kinds of goals from weight loss to muscle building or just to keep a healthy lifestyle. Chase is a big believer in a progressive fitness approach to ensure goals are met safely.

Amanda Fisher

Amanda has a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. She is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and a Level 1TRX Instructor. As a personal trainer, Amanda works with a variety of clientele, from those beginning their fitness journey to those transitioning from a rehabilitation program.  Her goal is to educate and instruct clients in both health and fitness so they can make the changes needed to meet their goals. No matter what her client’s goals, she believes that by building a strong foundation of proper form and technique, anything is possible. Amanda enjoys teaching Les Mills classes at the Mary Free Bed YMCA and watching her clients go beyond what they thought was ever possible.

Amanda Hoffmeyer

Amanda has her Doctorate of Physical Therapy and is certified through Balanced Body in both Pilates Mat and Pilates Reformer training. She believes that body awareness is key for improving health, from the athlete to someone recovering from surgery. Through Amanda’s outpatient orthopedic experience, current practice, and love for fitness, she is excited to partner with you to help you reach your personal fitness goals.

Lance Hohaia

Lance is an ex professional rugby player from New Zealand who amassed over 300 matches during his 15 year pro career. He has been heavily involved in the heath and fitness industry, at an elite level, for more than 20 years and is an NASM Certified Personal Trainer. Lance enjoys working with athletes and clientele of all abilities who wish to lead a happier and healthier life, Lance’s goal is to provide a safe and effective fitness program for his clients that produces desired results and exceed their expectations.

Tim Joyce

Tim is a NSCA Certified Personal Trainer and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from UGA. With almost 30 years of experience, he has assisted a wide variety of clients achieve their goals. His specialties include sports conditioning, post-rehabilitation conditioning, weight loss and general fitness programs. In his experience, he has learned that it’s not about how much weight you lift – proper technique, appropriate movements and motivation are significantly more productive.

Michelle Kuzma

Michelle has been a certified and Michigan licensed Athletic Trainer for 3 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from Saginaw Valley State University and a Master’s degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Eastern Kentucky University. She is a NASM certified personal trainer and has a passion for helping others in their quest for a healthy lifestyle. She believes that motivation, education, and commitment are some of the key components in living a healthy lifestyle.

Mary Lawson

Mary earned a Pilates certification from the Physical Mind Institute and a Health Coach certification from Well Coaches. She is also a certified Group Fitness Instructor and a certified Behavior Change Specialist from the American Council on Exercise (ACE). Mary’s goal is to provide a safe and effective Pilates program for new exercisers as well as conditioned athletes. Pilates offers mind/body integration, an increase in strength, flexibility and proper body alignment for improved posture and ease of movement.  She believes once clients learn Pilates, they will apply it to everyday movements and any activity they do at the YMCA.

Ashley Lustre

Ashley is an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Exercise Science. During her studies and work with patients in outpatient physical therapy, she learned the true value of exercise and how it affects our physical, mental, and emotional health.  She enjoys connecting with individuals of all ages and abilities.  Her objective when working with clients is to provide them with the tools and support that they need to accomplish their individual goals.

Bennett Mallory

Bennett is passionate about helping individuals improve their quality of life through healthy lifestyle choices. An ACSM certified personal trainer and TRX instructor, he specializes in training highly-motivated individuals of all ages to encourage proficient and efficient movement, achieving results as quickly and safely as possible.

Chris Martin

Chris is certified through National Strength & Conditioning (NSCA)in 2009 and is currently in the process of completing his degree in Exercise Science.  He was certified in 2009 while interning with Strength & Conditioning staff at the University of South Florida where he worked with both basketball and football teams. Chris believes that fitness and health should be a priority for everyone, but it’s a process and it takes it upon himself to help individuals reach their goals and be the best version of themselves the safest way possible.

Katolo Mendamenda

Katolo is a NSPA, NCCPT and ACSM certified personal trainer. He is also a Les Mills certified instructor in Bodystep, Bodypump RPM, CX WORX and Grit Series. He has been training and teaching group fitness classes since 2005. Katolo regard’s fitness as an important part of life. He’s heard it is said that “Fitness is the beginning of everything people want in life” and he agrees 100%. He sees fitness as a lifestyle. His goal is to promote healthy lifestyles in all he comes into contact with and to create life changing experiences. His passion is to help individuals reach their full potential and achieve their fitness goals whatever they may be.

Daniel Montgomery

Daniel graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Exercise Science. Surrounded by sports throughout his life, he fostered a natural interest in exercise and fitness. As a Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Daniel understands the importance of proper biomechanics when seeking optimal performance. Daniel has a passion for physical therapy and believes in the value of exercise to increase strength, mobility, and overall health. If you need extra guidance to attain the quality of life you desire, Daniel is your guy!

Leslie Nelson

Leslie is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and is also a certified instructor in Les Mills BODYPUMP and RPM. Leslie’s goal as a personal trainer is to partner with her client on their journey to become stronger, healthier, and happier. Leslie specializes in total body strength and fitness training. She begins training with building a strong foundation of core strength, range of motion and creating lean muscle mass. Whether your goal is weight loss, hypertrophy, quick twitch muscle enhancement, or agility training, you will get there together.

Sandra Rikkers

Sandra enjoys teaching others how they can improve their health by improving their strength and fitness. She loves helping clients get to their desired goals by using fitness in a way that is compatible to their lifestyle. Decide to START and she will help you keep going! Sandra has been a Certified Personal Traine though American Council on Exercise (ACE) & Blue Heron Academy since 2005. She was a competitive cheerleader, track athlete and worked for a cheer camp for 10 years. Sandra competed in a lot of physique competitions and tried out to be an American Gladiator….#fail. Weights are our friend. Superman is her favorite superhero.

Shelley Roberts

Shelly has her degree in Psychology and is certified in STOTT Pilates and ACE. She believes A Renewed Core (ARC) and a relaxed neck is the new way of training that will have you less in the gym and give you more awareness of where your body is in space.  Through the ARC system, clients reduce or eliminate pain in their neck, shoulders, back, knees and hips.  Shelley uses yoga and Pilates together to help clients build true core strength, flexibility, and a refreshed spirit.  Shelley brings over 25 years of observation and practice within her field and works with clients to discover new ways to sit, stand, and move that restore their spine to a healthier condition.

Kelly Smith

Kelly is an E-RYT 500, YACEP and is the founder of the Yoga For You yoga school and medthodology. Kelly has been teaching yoga for 6 years and has accumulated over 4,000 teaching hours as well as competed 500 hours of traditional classroom training in yoga, meditation, and philosophy. Kelly is proficient in 9 different styles of yoga and is a yoga master trainer. Kelly specializes in working one-on-one and believes that there is not a one size fits all approach to yoga and meditation and meets people where they are at to help them build a strong and lasting practice that fits into your life. Kelly is also the host of the meditation podcast Mindful in Minutes.

Dianne Strawser

Dianne is a NSCA Certified Personal Trainer and CSAS Certified Speed and Agility Specialist. With more than 40 years of coaching and playing soccer, athletics have been a big part of her Dianne’s life. She is a strength and conditioning specialist with an emphasis in sports conditioning. Dianne is in awe of how our bodies move and function. While training, she feels it is vital that exercises mimic movements that are used on a daily basis. Dianee works with people of all ages and fitness levels and loves to form relationships with everyone.

Kristin Throop

Kristin has a degree in Occupational Therapy and is a ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. Kristin has practiced as an Occupational Therapist for over 20 years in many different areas of rehabilitation.  She has a passion for working with a wide range of ages and abilities to help improve function, strength, cardiovascular fitness, and overall health.  Kristin is a certified and seasoned Les Mills instructor and teaches group fitness at the Mary Free Bed and David D. Hunting YMCA’s.


Kristi Tuck

Kristi has a degree in Exercise Science and is ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. She is also certified through ACSM as a Health Fitness Specialist, Wellcoaches as a Wellness Coach, Metagenics as a FirstLine Therapy Lifestyle Educator, as well as various specialty certifications ranging from Special Populations, Post Rehabilitation, Cancer, Diabetes, and Plant Based Nutrition. Kristi brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience from working in the field. Her passion lies in providing her clients with the tools they need to reach their healthy lifestyle goals.

Justine Volz

Justine has a degree in Exercise Science and is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. She enjoys educating people on the importance of exercise, helping them meet their goals, and realize that exercise is intimidating. Through hard work and a positive attitude, Justine helps her clients reach their goals one step at a time. She focuses on delivering the best and safest training possible in order to promote everyday function.

Tim Wagner

Tim has a degree in Exercise Science and is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. Tim feels that workouts should test and improve your physical and mental abilities, but should be conducted in fun and creative ways to help keep you fully engaged. With a history of playing sports, Tim looks to create specific training programs designed to increase speed, power, agility, and reaction timing.
