The Y recognizes the many sacrifices made by military personnel and their families to ensure our country is protected. As military personnel, you and your family can combine fitness and social opportunities to create a healthy mind, body, and spirit.
As our way to thank you, the Y would like to offer reduced pricing for military personnel & their families in the Grand Rapids area.
We are offering to waive the joining fee & reduce the monthly membership fee by $10 per month!

To join and receive the military membership rate, please visit one or our branches. Currently deployed and reserved military members can show their military identification cards. Veterans may show their DD214 or VA Health Care card.

Additional Opportunities for Military Families
When kids are out of school for the summer, they’re ready some fun, hanging out with peers, and experiencing adventure! YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin offers camps that are FREE just for military kids!

We are excited to bring you this one-of-a-kind week of summer camp! In 2016, YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin was one of just 23 camps in19 states to offer this camp free of charge to qualifying campers. Any child ages 8-15 in a military family is eligible. Priority is given to children in a family with a wounded, disabled, or fallen service member. For more details and to apply: www.campcorral.org.
OPERATION PURPLE CAMP
(AGE 8-14, Co-Ed) July 2017
At Operation Purple Camp, a partnership with the Military Family Association, we recognized that “Kids Serve Too.” This session brings campers from all ranks and services, including the National Guard and Reserve components, together. Operation Purple Camp is free of charge to qualifying campers at YMCA Camp Manitou-Lin. Priority is given to deployed, injured, and first-time campers. Children bond through a unique and memorable experience, which includes everything from kayaking and hiking, to rock climbing and zip lining. Financial Assistance – Everyone is Welcome at the Y
The Y believes that everyone deserves the chance to succeed. Regardless of your financial situation, we will work with you to receive all the benefits of our membership. Through the generosity of donors, we are able to provide programs and services to those who may not otherwise be able to participate. If you cannot afford the full cost of a YMCA membership, you may apply for financial assistance. Confidential financial assistance applications are available at any location or click on the link below. All Y members receive the same membership benefits, regardless of assistance.
Stop by the front desk at the branch nearest you. To process the application we will also need the following information:
- Copy of last year’s tax return
- Two current copies of pay stub or
- Copy of social security or disability check
Electronic funds transfer (EFT): Your checking, savings, or credit card account is debited once a month. Payment in advance is also accepted.
