Grand Rapids, MI (August 1, 2018) – The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids announced today it will celebrate the new school year with a back-to-school event from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3. The event will feature carnival-style games for families to play and win school supplies at the David D. Hunting YMCA. Attendees will also receive a free backpack full of supplies, including markers, glue sticks, pencils, folders, notebooks and other items. The event will include art projects, games, face painting, treats, giveaways and more. Supplies are limited and available while they last.
“For many, back-to-school shopping is an annual rite of passage,” said Johnathan Pope, District Executive Director, David D. Hunting YMCA. “But for some families, it can also be an economic hardship. That’s why the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is committed to working with our community partners to make sure all kids have the tools they need to be successful in school.”
