About the Grand Rapids Drive
The Grand Rapids Drive is an affiliate of the NBA’s Detroit Pistons. The team's inaugural season began in November 2014. The roster is made up of three returning players from the Springfield Armor (the franchise purchased by the Drive), five NBA Development League draftees, and two affiliate players from the Detroit Pistons. Since it’s conception in 2001, 30 percent of current NBA players and over 40 percent of NBA draftees have played on NBA D-League teams, like the Drive. The Detroit Pistons manage the team's basketball operations department, and oversee all personnel and basketball-related aspects of the team.
