The Community Health Advocate Intern will collaborate with the ACTIVATE Health Advocate Director in the development of partnerships with like-minded community based organizations to promote health and wellness programs and reduce the barriers surrounding chronic diseases.


  • Promote and schedule community wellness activities within the Grand Rapids Hope Zones as outlines by Community Health Advocate Director
  • Attend community events to promote healthy spirit, mind, and body for all program participants
  • Conduct surveys and promote family goal setting toward empowering participants to engage in healthier behaviors
  • Provide hands on assistance with building guidance and referral system for residents living in Grand Rapid Hope Zones
  • Provide excellent service to our members, volunteers, sponsors and participants
  • Design posters & flyers, create bulletin boards, send emails to participants, recruit volunteers and conduct community focus groups
  • The Community Health intern will gain skills in leadership, oral and written communication and organizational skills
  • Assist with upcoming events by booking event spaces, arrange for food and beverage, order supplies, make travel arrangements, etc.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments.
  • 20 - 40 hours per week (flexible hours and scheduling).
