Reopening Information

Our greatest responsibility to our members and employees is to ensure their safety while they are at the Y. On August 20, 2021, the Kent County Health Department and Ottawa County Department of Public Health issued public health orders requiring mask use in educational settings. As our YMCA aligns with communication from these leading health agencies, all staff, volunteers, and students (4- year-olds through 8th grade) in YMCA youth development programming will be required to wear a face mask while inside any YMCA facility or program site, regardless of their vaccination status. Youth Development programming includes Child Development Centers, before and after school childcare, Kid Zone, and any other indoor youth-serving program. The wearing of face masks by all other YMCA staff and members is strongly recommended, regardless of vaccination status, following the guidance of the CDC and state and local health officials.

Thank you for your patience, positivity and continued commitment to the Y’s mission.  We have been working hard to keep you safe, as taking care of your health is more important to us now than ever before.

We have a new virtual exercise platform for you through BurnAlong called Y Wellness 24/7 as an added member benefit.

Do you have questions about reopening? Check out our frequently asked questions here.

  • You must complete a membership waiver of liability before you will be able to access the facility. To fill out this form prior to your visit, click here.
  • Members will be asked to scan their own membership card to allow for limited contact entry. Download your membership card on our mobile app for added convenience. Download our app here on iTunes or Google Play.
  • We also ask you to help us reduce the risk of exposure by wiping down equipment with the provided cleaning materials both before and after use. Take a moment to review all of our safety protocols before your visit.
  • You must use designated equipment only, respect all signs regarding social distancing, and maintain at least six feet from others whenever possible.
  • We ask those who feel unwell to stay home. We encourage  vulnerable populations of our Y members to be cautious and follow recommended guidelines on when to resume activities outside the home.
  • The Y will be open to members only, age 11 and older; children ages 5-10 who are on a Household Membership may work out with their parent under existing membership guidelines, see age guidelines. Stroller walking on the track is permitted at designated locations.
  • Please be patient and know that these protocols have been put in place for your safety and to accommodate as many members as possible each day.
