You’ve logged the miles, fought through the early mornings and stayed committed—now the big day is almost here! Whether you’re aiming for a PR or just to finish strong, these final few days can make a big difference in how you feel when you cross that finish line. Here are five key things to focus on in the last few weeks to set yourself up for race-day success:

1. Lock in Your Sleep Schedule
Late nights and early alarms don’t mix well with long miles. Aim to get consistent, quality sleep every night this week—even if you feel a little antsy. Your body does its best recovery work while you rest, and a solid sleep routine can help you feel energized and focused come race day.
2. Stay Hydrated (But Don’t Overdo It!)
Proper hydration doesn’t start the night before the race—it starts now. Sip water throughout the day and add electrolytes if your training has involved a lot of sweat. Just don’t start chugging gallons; balance is key.
3. Finalize Your Fuel Plan
Practice your pre-race breakfast, dial in your hydration and gel schedule, and make sure your stomach is on board. Not sure what to eat? Stick to what’s worked during your long runs—and don’t forget to carb-load smartly 2–3 days out.
4. Keep Moving (Gently!)
While you should be tapering, don’t stop moving completely. Short, easy runs, gentle stretching, or a light cross-training session (like one of our group fitness classes!) can help you stay loose without draining your energy. Listen to your body and resist the urge to squeeze in “one more long run.”
5. Visualize Your Victory
Mental prep is just as important as physical. Take time each day this week to picture yourself at the starting line—calm and ready—and then crossing the finish line strong. Walk through your race plan, rehearse your pace, and remind yourself: You’ve got this.
