Child and Family Advocate Program
The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is proud to share we are the recipients of Ready by Five Early Childhood Millage funding to offer the Child and Family Advocate Program to families of children in early childhood education programs in partnership with Hispanic Center of West Michigan, Refugee Education Center, and Steepletown Neighborhood Services. Child and Family Advocates will partner to strengthen families and their early learning experience through one-on-one support. To be eligible, families must have a 0-5 year-old child enrolled at the YMCA or a participating partner location in Kent County.

Grand Rapids Southeast Promise Neighborhood Project (GRSPN)
GRSEPN, Grand Rapids Southeast Promise Neighborhood Project, is one of 8 Promise Neighborhood grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Education in 2021. Along with our community partners and stakeholders, we implement a coordinated and aligned system of evidence-based strategies to provide students with a high quality, equity-producing, birth-to-career educational experience.

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is a state-funded preschool program. Classrooms are located in many district buildings and community-based organizations throughout our community.

Ready by Five Early Childhood Millage

Ready by Five Childhood Millage
The Ready by Five Early Childhood Millage helps children in Kent County enter kindergarten healthy and ready to learn and succeed. Ready by Five provides dedicated funding for evidence-based programs that improve childhood health, school readiness, and well-being.
Parent Resource Center
Career and Education
Includes all branches of Grand Rapids Public Libraries and Kent District Libraries. Resources for adults, children, and families.
Developmental and Behavioral Resource
Build a strong foundation and see ifyour child benefit from additional development and behavioral services.
Equity-Deserving Schools (schools in PN)
Grand Rapids Public Schools, Charter, and private schools in the Southeast neighborhoods.
Family and Community Resources
Resources designed to support families and the community. Includes local restaurants and businesses owned by residents.
Family Transition Plan
Submit a request to receive assistance on a transition plan into the program.
Food Pantries and Resources
Food pantries that are available in Grand Rapids.
Housing Resources
Emergency housing, housing support, and transitional living.
Medical/Mental Health
Includes BIPOC providers, providers who take Medicaid, and Narcan dispensers.
Parks with Playgrounds

Preschool and Childcare
Includes all Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) locations, in-home, center-based, and non-profit childcare. Hours, tuition, and openings are listed based on web searches.
