Sept. 4 Update

  • The women’s locker room will reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 17. 
  • The girl’s locker room will close on Wednesday, Sept. 17. 
  • The men’s locker room will close on Wednesday, Sept. 24. 
  • Two universal locker rooms will remain open during the closures.

June 3 Update

In addition to our main entrance, visitors are encouraged to use the Winter Avenue NW entrance for more direct and convenient access to the building.

May 29 Update

Starting Monday, June 2, you’ll see construction fencing installed near the front of the David D. Hunting YMCA as early work begins on the new Amway Soccer Stadium. While this transforms our entrance into a temporary construction zone, our doors remain open—and we’re excited to welcome you in! 

To ensure your safety and keep everything running smoothly, crews will install a temporary bridge over our entrance area while they work on utilities beneath the building. 

What to Expect: 

  • New entrance with clear signs. 
  • Staff on site during peak hours to guide you. 
  • Sidewalks and pathways may shift slightly – allow yourself extra time. 
  • Frequent updates from us as things evolve. 

We know all construction disruptions can be frustrating. It’s not easy and you’re not alone in that feeling. That said, this is an important step in a new chapter for our neighborhood and we’re here to make it as smooth as possible. 

When do renovations start?

  • April 7: The Boy’s Locker Room will close for renovations.
    • Universal Locker Rooms will be available.
  • April 14: The Women’s Locker Room will close for renovations.
    • Universal Locker Rooms will be available.
  • Next Phases: Renovations on the Girl’s and Men’s Locker Rooms and the current Universal Locker Rooms.

Which areas will be affected?

The Boys’ and Girls’ Locker Rooms will be transformed into Universal Locker Rooms, offering enhanced privacy and accessibility. This renovation will more than double our current Universal Locker Room capacity, providing additional private changing areas for individuals and families—ensuring a welcoming space for all members.

How will this impact my visit?

The branch will remain open during renovations and the Universal Locker Rooms will be available. We have scheduled work with care for your experience in mind, ultimately making our space more convenient. We encourage members to use other Y locations as needed – a complete list of our branches and hours can be found at grymca.org.

When will this work conclude?

We will share regular updates as information becomes available. Our goal is to keep members informed every step of the way through a variety of channels, including email and our Daxko Mobile app. If you haven’t already done so, now would be a great time to confirm your member account is current via the “Online Account Management” link on the grymca.org homepage.

Will there be any disruptions to programming?

At this time, we don’t anticipate any disruptions to scheduled programming.
