Veggie Van

West Michigan mobile farmers market

Our Veggie Van® runs year round, making daily stops in urban neighborhoods throughout Grand Rapids and Muskegon, ensuring that fruits and vegetables are available to people who otherwise have limited access to fresh produce. We grow and sell locally grown, top-quality fruits and vegetables at reduced prices. Additionally, we accept SNAP, Senior Project Fresh/Market FRESH, W.I.C. Project Fresh benefits, and accept Double Up Food Bucks.

FRUITS AND VEGETABLES BROUGHT TO YOU BY…

We now grow, purchase, and sell our fruits and veggies from local farmers and supplement our supply by partnering with local grocery stores.

FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

Our market participates in multiple food assistance programs to meet the needs of our community. Below is a list and description of the programs we participate in.

Double Up Food Bucks

The Double Up Food Bucks program allows SNAP-eligible shoppers to double their SNAP benefits (Bridge Cards) up to $20 per market day. If a shopper purchases $20 worth of food at the market using a Bridge Card, they will receive $20 in Double Up Food Bucks tokens to spend on fresh, Michigan grown produce at the market.

W.I.C. Project FRESH

WIC Project FRESH helps to provide healthy and nutritious produce to Michigan WIC participants, while fostering economic development by promoting our state’s diverse agricultural products. The program provides low-income, nutritionally-at-risk WIC participants with eligible, locally grown, fresh, unprepared fruits and vegetables from authorized farmers, farmers’ markets and roadside stands throughout Michigan. The Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) is known in Michigan as Project FRESH and is administrated by the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program. At the Mary Free Bed YMCA, we now grow produce in our green house and outside in raised farm beds that we sell on the Grand Rapids van.

Senior Project FRESH/Market FRESH

Qualified seniors who receive Market Fresh benefits are able to utilize these coupons at our market.
