Thank you for your interest in volunteering or interning for the YMCA!

Our community is founded on the idea of supporting each other.

There are many ways you can get involved and utilize your talents with the Y. We offer internships and volunteer opportunities that can positively impact lives right in your own community.  When you volunteer or intern with the Y, you are doing more than just sharing your time and passion, you’re helping your neighbors in the community become stronger.

At the Y, your time and talent go a long way. Every hour you spend as a Y volunteer provides the caring attention a child or teen needs to grow up healthy and resilient, and supports families so they can be successful. There are opportunities every single day to give back to the Y. Find yours.

Child Care Volunteers share their time to be positive role models, assist teachers, collect resources for children and their families, and educate children by sharing their unique talents.

Community Board Members improve Y locations by helping with program innovation, fundraising, events, and community involvement. Visit or contact your Y location to get involved.

Special Event Volunteers  We’re seeking volunteers to engage in a variety of community programs and outreach initiatives throughout the year

Wellness Volunteers  help ensure that Y wellness areas are welcoming and inviting. You’ll assist members with questions, maintain an organized and clean center, and create a friendly and engaging space for all.

Each year, the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids’ Annual Campaign reached out to families both with the Y and the community to raise support for our programs.  Staff, leadership, members, small businesses, and large corporations all ensure that the impactful program work of the YMCA addresses significant needs in our communities.  Please join us as a campaign volunteer: share your Y story connect future donors to the impactful work done in our community.
